We’re delighted that Animal Trust Birkenhead has become the latest surgery in the Animal Trust group to operate 7 days a week. The expansion comes following the continued demand for affordable veterinary care in the area.
The surgery, located in the centre of the town on Conway Street officially opened to pets in July last year and quickly became popular with local pet owners thanks to its free consultations and affordable, fixed price care. Now, the surgery is operating 7 days a week to ensure that local pet owners have access to professional veterinary care as soon as they need it.
Speaking about this exciting announcement, Lead Veterinary Nurse at the surgery, Fran Howard says; ’’Since we opened our surgery we have supported and cared for lots of owners and their pets and we want to continue being there when they need us most’’.
Fran continues; ‘’We’re different to many other general practice veterinary surgeries in our area as we’re a not-for-profit Community Interest Company meaning offering free face to face consultations with a vet to everyone. We hope that by providing this service 7 days a week more pets will be able to get immediate access to good care.’’
During the COVID-19 restrictions, virtual consultations with a vet have also been introduced. This allows owners to still access professional veterinary advice but from the comfort and safety of their own home. Lead Nurse, Fran adds; ‘’We brought in our virtual video and phone consultation services to help those owners who may have a concern about their pet but can’t attend the surgery due to the restrictions and social distancing rules.’’
‘’We want to reassure owners that we are here to deliver the best access to good care during this time and if they have an emergency with their pet they can call us directly and we will be here to help, 7 days a week. Our nearby Ellesmere Port surgery is also operational 24/7 so we are in a positive position to be able to deliver non-stop emergency and critical care to pets’’ continues Fran.
At the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, all Animal Trust surgeries introduced measures to help support social distancing and these measures are still in place for clients who need to visit for physical appointments which are available by calling the surgery.
