    Who are we?

Animal Trust is the only veterinary company in the UK to date to have Community Interest Company status and our goal is to improve access to veterinary care for pet owners who earn the real living wage. We don’t believe that pet ownership should be a privilege only for those who can afford it.

At Animal Trust, we want to make a difference to sick pets by providing accessible veterinary care whilst also minimising our environmental impact.

We are strongly guided by our values around balancing purpose and profit. In everything we do, we consider the impact of our decisions on our workers, customers, suppliers, community, and the environment.

In 2022 we were awarded B Corp status, demonstrating our constant efforts to improve our social and environmental impact.

As a CIC, our business aim is not just to make a profit, but to do good for society. It also means we have an asset lock, so the majority of any profits we make are re-invested to benefit our mission, rather than distributed to shareholders.

Our consultations are free to our clients, and we have a transparent pricing structure for diagnostics and treatment.

What to expect during your placement

Our caseload is heavily geared towards sick pets so it’s a great place to come and learn.

We’ll encourage you to put the theoretical knowledge you gain at university into practice, seeing real cases with real owners.

As well as our first opinion work, we often take on complex cases for pets whose owners can’t afford referral care. You’ll get to see a great mix of routine consults, surgeries, dental work and preventative care alongside more advanced medical and surgical cases.

For those who choose to come to one of our 24-hour hospital sites, you will also be able to get involved in inpatient work and two of our sites have a CT scanner.

Alongside clinical skills, a large proportion of what we do can be considered non-clinical.

You’ll be able to see how our teams communicate with our clients, including those difficult discussions surrounding finance or end of life. You’ll learn just how important these ‘soft’ skills can be.

Don’t just take our word for it...

My EMS placement at Animal Trust, Ellesmere Port was the most inclusive placement I have had. The entire team made me feel welcome and got me involved as much as possible. There was a varied caseload which was really interesting to be a part of.

I came across Animal Trust when I was at University. I really liked the ethos, the big caseload and the variability.

    Gracie

I like that it's not the same every day, so it's never boring.
