Precious is walking again after fracture treatment at Animal Trust Ellesmere Port hospital

Precious is walking again after fracture

Precious had an accident at home and was unable to bear weight on her right front leg. She was brought to our Ellesmere Port hospital, where she was assessed by residency-trained vet surgeon Dylan. Following a thorough clinical examination, she was admitted for further investigations to ensure she received the most appropriate treatment without delay.

X-rays confirmed a fracture of her radius and ulna. Given the nature of the injury, Precious was hospitalised for surgical repair. She underwent a successful operation to realign the fractured bones, which were stabilised internally using metal implants to provide strength and support during healing. Her recovery was closely monitored by our inpatient team overnight, ensuring she remained comfortable and stable. See X-rays for before and after.

Remarkably, by the following day, Precious was well enough to be discharged home, already beginning to use the leg and ready to continue her recovery in a familiar environment with her family.

Now, 6 weeks post-operation, Precious is continuing to do very well. Dylan has given her the all-clear at this stage of healing, along with a tailored 8-week rehabilitation plan to gradually rebuild strength and mobility and help her return to her normal, active self.

We’re delighted to see Precious progressing so well and wish her a full and happy recovery.
