Reggie the Labrador's cancer journey

Reggie is a nine-year-old Labrador. He was referred to us with a large mast cell tumour that had sadly taken over most of his paw. While our team, including Dylan, a European and RCVS Specialist in Small Animal Surgery, explored every option to save the limb, the size and location of the tumour meant that amputation was ultimately the kindest and most effective choice for Reggie’s long-term health.

Reggie’s operation went smoothly, and he’s made an incredible recovery - adapting quickly and already back to enjoying his walks.

Reggie is now continuing his treatment journey at our Ellesmere Port hospital. He is receiving chemotherapy with vet Amber, an Advanced Practitioner in Medicine - this treatment will help to target any remaining cancer cells and give him the best possible prognosis. He’s taking it all in his stride with his sweet, cheerful nature and waggy tail - he is a firm favourite with all the staff.
