Emergency visit to Pet A&E for Juju

Juju, a 4-year-old Doberman, got herself into a bit of trouble after munching on half a corn on the cob at home. While it might seem harmless, this is actually a potentially dangerous hazard for dogs.

On arrival, Juju was assessed by Amber, an Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Medicine, who quickly determined that intervention was needed. With the support of registered veterinary nurse Heather, Amber carried out an endoscopy. Endoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that allows vets to look inside the digestive tract using a thin, flexible tube equipped with a camera. This technique is particularly useful for locating and retrieving foreign objects without the need for more invasive surgery.

Thanks to the team’s expertise, the corn cob was removed from Juju's stomach without the need for surgery. Avoiding surgery not only reduces recovery time but also lowers the risks associated with more invasive procedures. After her treatment, Juju recovered well and is now back at home, resting comfortably and returning to her usual playful self.
