Arthroscopic Surgery for Labrador

Arthroscopic Surgery for Labrador

Case Study Spotlight: Arthroscopy

Paolo is a fun-loving 1-year-old Labrador. Paolo was referred to Dylan (European and RCVS Specialist in Small Animal Surgery) at our Ellesmere Port hospital, because of ongoing elbow pain caused by medial coronoid process disease, a common cause of elbow pain in young, active dogs.

To get to the root of the problem, Paolo underwent a CT scan, which confirmed the presence of disease in both elbows. Based on this, Dylan recommended bilateral elbow arthroscopy, a minimally invasive, keyhole procedure to evaluate and debride the affected bone and cartilage.

The procedure was a success, removing the diseased tissue in both elbows, and thanks to the minimally invasive approach, he was able to go home the very same day. Paolo has recovered well, he’s had no further episodes of lameness and is back to enjoying his walks and playtime.
