We were able to help Harry's owner with affordable treatment for his Addisons Diseasee

Harry: Treatment for Addison's at Animal Trust Rhyl

Harry is a five-year-old Cockerpoo and recently presented at Animal Trust Vets Rhyl, critically ill and urgently needing medical intervention. He underwent several investigations, and thanks to the incredible teamwork between our Rhyl clinic and our 24/7 Pet A&E in Ellesmere Port, Harry was stabilised over an intense 48-hour period.

After identifying Addison's disease (hypoadrenocorticism), Harry began a stabilisation protocol and has been responding exceptionally well. Addison’s disease is a condition where the adrenal glands do not produce enough essential hormones, particularly cortisol and aldosterone. These hormones are vital for regulating stress response, blood pressure, hydration, and electrolyte balance. When levels drop too low, pets can become very weak, dehydrated, and can suffer life-threatening “Addisonian crises,” which require urgent intensive care.

Harry is now receiving ongoing medication to replace these hormones and restore normal balance in his body. He has been enjoying his visits to the Rhyl clinic for regular blood tests and monitoring. We are happy to say that Harry is now on the road to recovery and continuing to improve with careful long-term management.
