What is Hypothyroidism in Dogs
Hypothyroidism in dogs is a condition caused by insufficient production of thyroid hormone due to underactive thyroid glands. The most common cause is the pet's own immune system attacking the thyroid gland or the replacement of thyroid tissue with fatty tissue. Other potential causes include cancer or a defect from birth.
