Pet-Friendly Pancakes Recipe

Pet-Friendly Pancakes Recipe

  • 1 large egg 

  • 1 ripe banana (or ¼ cup mashed cooked sweet potato) 

  • ¼ cup water 

  • ¼ cup oat flour (just blend oats) 
    Optional swap: rice flour or whole wheat flour 

  • 1 tsp salmon oil or olive oil (optional for healthy fats) 

Makes 4–6 small pancakes
Note: No milk, no added salt, no sugar, no chocolate, no leavening. 


Cooking Instructions 

  • Mash banana in a bowl until smooth. 

  • Add the egg and water → whisk together. 

  • Stir in oat flour until it becomes a loose batter. 

  • Heat a non-stick pan on low–medium heat. 

  • Pour small dollops (silver-dollar size) into the pan. 

  • Cook 1–2 minutes per side until lightly golden. 

  • Let cool completely before serving. 


Pet-Friendly Pancakes Serving Ideas 

  • For dogs: top with a tiny smear of peanut butter (xylitol-free). 

  • For cats: shred a little cooked chicken or drizzle a few drops of tuna water on top. 

  • Break into small treats or use as a pill-hiding snack.

These should be occasional treats, not daily meals. 

  • Small pets: ½ pancake 

  • Medium dogs: 1 pancake 

  • Large dogs: 2 pancakes 

  • Cats: a few small pieces
