What is Cytopoint?

Cytopoint® is a monoclonal antibody used to help control itching associated with allergic skin disease in dogs. It works by targeting the itch signal.

How is Cytopoint given?
It is given as an injection, typically monthly, depending on your dog’s response. Some dogs improve quickly, while others may take up to 2 doses to see improvement. If little or no response is seen after this, your vet may recommend considering alternative treatments.

What benefits can I expect?
With Cytopoint many dogs show:

  • Reduced itching

  • Less scratching, licking or chewing

  • Improved skin comfort

Is Cytopoint suitable for all dogs?
No. Cytopoint is not suitable for every dog.

It should not be used in:

  • Dogs weighing under 3kg

  • Pregnant, lactating or breeding dogs

This medication will only be used if your vet feels it is appropriate for your dog.

Possible side effects of Cytopoint

  • Injection site reaction

  • Hypersensitivity reaction

  • Vomiting or diarrhoea

  • Wobbliness

  • Convulsion or seizure

If you notice any side effects or have any concerns after treatment, please contact your veterinary practice.

Important information for owners

  • Cytopoint controls itching but does not sure the underlying allergy

  • Your vet may recommend further investigations or treatment of the underlying cause

  • Additional treatments may still be needed

  • Monitor your dog closely after each injection
