Why is my pet drinking more?
Pets can end up drinking more water than usual for many different reasons. Just like humans, pets could also become thirsty more quickly depending on how hot they are or what food they eat. However, there are certain underlying health problems that could also lead to extra drinking.
Reasons your dog maybe be drinking more water:
- your pet is hot
- your pet is bored
- your pet has eaten certain salter foods
- your pet’s medication (if on any) can be a cause
- your pet has an illness such as diabetes, Cushing's disease, Addison's disease, kidney disease and an infection of the womb (pyometra) in female dogs.
