If being able to say you absolutely love your job is the dream – then Bev, housekeeper at our Bolton surgery, is most definitely living the dream!
Bev has been at Animal Trust for approximately five years (with a small gap in between) and her love for her role is immediately apparent. “I take great satisfaction in the work I do. Every day I clean the reception area, the waiting room, the consult rooms, staff area, offices and toilets and I love seeing everywhere looking spick and span, ready for the clients and the vets,” she said.
One of the things Bev loves most about her role is the people she works with. “We’re like one big happy family at Bolton. I tend to work on my own but we all help each other as needed,” she said.
Bev starts work at 4:30 am and works till 1:30 pm, but doesn’t mind the early starts. According to her, it actually has its advantages: “I finish early, which in turn means I get to enjoy my hobbies of fishing, reading and listening to music,” she explained. “I can also spend time with my rescue Staffie, Bruno. I’ve had him for two years and I wouldn’t be without him – he’s a real softie,” she said.
Bev and the other housekeepers who work at Animal Trust may work largely ‘behind the scenes’ but what they do is vital to the smooth running of the organisation. It may be an over-used phrase, but they are the glue that holds us all together.
